While all childcare providers must follow a mandatory curriculum as required by CSC and the School Board, ASP goes further with unique specialized programs designed to provide children with the life skills they need to succeed in today’s complex world.

Junior Achievement educates and inspires young people to value free enterprise, business and economics to improve the quality of their lives.

ASP is the only private afterschool childcare provider in South Florida affiliated with Junior Achievement. Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people learn about business, economics and free enterprise to improve the quality of their lives.

Our exclusive partnership with this prestigious organization allows the children in our care the opportunity to experience the real world and understand the economics of life, opening their minds to their potential.

MISSION

Junior Achievement will ensure that every child in America has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system.

WHOM DOES IT REACH?

Junior Achievement programs reached 17,043 Broward & South Palm Beach County students during the 2004-2005 school year. This would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of committed community supporters and local business, college, and high school volunteers who taught the economic curriculum and served as positive role models in local schools.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Ourselves® uses compelling stories read aloud along with hands-on activities to demonstrate helping, working, earning and saving.
  • Our Families® emphsizes the roles people play in the local economy and engages students with activities about needs, wants, jobs, tools and skills, and interdependence.
  • Our Community® explores the interdependent roles of workers in a community, the work they perform, and how communities work.
  • Our City® studies careers, the skills people need to work in those careers, and how businesses contribute to a city.
  • Our Region® introduces the relationship between the natural, human and capital resources found in different regions and explores regional businesses that produce goods and services for consumers.
  • Our Nation® examines how businesses operate in the United States. Students role play business ownership, interview for jobs, and learn different methods of production while exploring various economic issues that impact business.
  • JA Enterprise VillageTM is a simulated community where students assume the roles of workers and consumers following a series of classroom activities about businesses and jobs.
